For Colored Boys is a dramatic web series written and directed by award winning filmmaker Stacey Muhammad of Wildseed Films. Inspired by the highly acclaimed 1975 choreopoem "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf" by Ntozake Shange, For Colored Boys is a series of short stories that follow the lives of seven African American men from various walks of life as they navigate and overcome challenges, face their fears, find their truth, mend broken relationships, find love, build families and inspire the lives of many.

The first season of For Colored Boys, subtitled REDEMPTION, follows the life of Benjamin Boyd, Sr. who upon release from prison seeks to reunite his family by rekindling his relationship with wife, "Lisa" and reassuming his role as father to his teenage daughter, Sidney and 20 year old son, "E". A talented yet somewhat troubled young man, "E" has had to shoulder a tremendous amount of responsibility during his father's incarceration. Accustomed to assisting his mother with his 15-year-old sister, Sidney, he is pulled and persuaded by the temptations of his environment to make money and help provide for his family.

The BoomBox Exhibition
04/12/2013

The concept of the BoomBox Exhibition; presented by House of Art Gallery, is to demonstrate the influence of the boombox through various facets from the 70’s-mid 80’s; such as fashion, music and politics. The Boombox was an intrinsic part of incubating so much sonic New York history, in pulling together this study we'll see, live and embrace a device that was part of the fabric of the city.

The House of Art Gallery endeavors to exhibit Lyle’s work from his love of the “boombox” as well as other influential, established artists who felt inspired from the era. The group exhibition will feature seminal Boombox celebrated works from; Jamel Shabazz, Justin Bua, Frank Morrison, Dan Ericson, Najee Dorsey, Charlotta Janssen, Nina Boesch and Phyllis Stephens. The opening reception will be a special night to meet the artists, discuss their passions, and reminisce about memories held when the boombox became a staple through a persuasive era.

Donald Smith and Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch have had long standing performing, touring and recording careers that span over sixty years combined. They have worked together for twenty years. Musically, they breathe together.

His virtuosity on piano is unparralelled and her voice is exhilarating yet sublime.

Not since Wynton Kelly and Dinah Washington has there been such a profound musical love affair between these two instruments - piano and voice.

With the addition of Donald Smith's vocal stylings, (he is one of the most prolific singers to ever grace a stage), the ensuing duets are simply divine. The combination of these two artists in performance is truly an unforgettable experience.
